My last class with technical english!!!!

Hi everybody, I had my last class with technical english. I arrived very early to prepare everything I was going to use. First, I started with the warm up activity which was the same as Ingrid did in her presentation with teacher Cristian. I asked to stand up, but all of them were like tired and didn't want to stand up. So, I saw this and I understood them and I told them to stayed in their desks. After giving directions, we started with the gestures and they laughed. I think they feel more comfortable with the class after this warm up. After this, I gave a peace of paper to some of them which contained words to form the structure of the simple present questions. I tried to give a detailed , easy and understandable explanation about that. I asked them to go to the board and paste the papers one by one. After that, I wrote some example following the structure. Some of them could help me perfectly, but other seemed that they find it difficult. Later, I gave them a photocopy of a song, and I played the video in my computer. It was a song called "do I have to cry for you". It was a song which had the same structure we were studying; however, I had an observation about the song because I had given them some blanks in the lyric for them to fill the blanks. I didn't use the lyric in the correct way because the teacher told me that I should have delete the words like do, what, according to the words we were studying, and I deleted just easy words. I played the son for them to check the lyric.
I told the students to sing if they wanted to, but I realized that if he teacher doesn't sing, they won't sing either, so I played the son again and encourage them to sing again, and this time I sang too. They sang with me and I could notice they felt comfortable singing when I sang.
Afterwards, I pasted some pictures on the board and I wrote the verbs according to the action. I asked them to write questions using simple present questions. I was checking their work, and most of them were following the structure. Later, when they finished we checked and I wanted to make sure if they understood, so I erased everything on the board and asked one to write the structure of the questions, and another student to write examples. They did it perfect and I felt satisfied. I say goodbye and thank for their participation. They clapped at the end.

Third class

Hi there, I had to teache my 3rd class with technical english, and I think this time was better since I brough active activities.
At the begining I had to wait for more students becuse it was time to start and there were some girls missing. I started with the warm up activity. I asked them to make two roads, the last students of each line saw a sentence I showed them; then, they had to whisper to their classmates the sentences I showed them. The first student had to write the sentence on the board. The girls were having fun and did a good job, and the winners got a candy. After that, I asked them to make pairs and work on an excersise from the book, it was a writing activity. Then, I gave them a photocopy about a daily routine because the topic was simple present and family members. I asked them to make groups of three, they had to practice their speaking by telling the routine of the person in the photocopy using the pictures in it. Some of them were kind of lost because they couldn't tell the story of the daily routine, but there was a group that told it perfectly. I think they liked it, but for some of them was too difficult. After that, they answered an excersise from the book about filling the blanks about writing the verbs in the correct form. We all did it together and repeated the practice, some of them had the excersise already done because the book was borrowed. At the end, I asked them some questions about relatives and they liked them because they were treaky. For example, who is the mother of my mother? I asked them one by one and they were thinking hard and when they couldn't answer I gave the answer and laughed. I think they liked they class because when I said goodbye and erased the board  they clapped, which was something they didn't do the previous classes.

Second entry / Technical english

Hi everyone, Today I had to teach my second practice. I arrived early as always, and when I got in the classroom with the teacher I kind of tired and wanted to sleep. I don't know if that was trasmitted to the students, but I felt them different than the first time. I started the class with warm up activity. Since they were students the time, I gave each a paper in a shape of a circle. I asked them to draw a clock and set any time. They spent more time than I thought because some of them were working on the homework for that day, others were very tired , very sick, so I tried to hide my fatigue, but I don't know if I could. After they finished the clock, I gave them a piece of making tape and asked the to paste it on their chest, and go around the classroom asking, "what time is it?." They had a practice on the time and I  think that worked well. Later, I told them to past their clocks on the board and we repeated the time all together. Afterwards, I played the cd for them to listen to a conversation. I told them to listen, asked them for new words, ask some questions about the dialogue, repeat, and perfomed. I told them to pass to the from with the book and give their own names and another country. They had fun giving other countries because in the dialogue was requiring.
Besides the time, I had to give a review of present continuous wh-questions. I wrote some questions on the board and they helped me to write them, so I could realized that they already had familiarized with the topic. I asked them for some verbs to write the " ing" form. Some of them seemed to understand everything, but the other half didn't participate unless I asked them to. I gave them a picture and I told them to write a questions and the answer using present perfect. Then they had to ask one of their friends the question and their classmates had to say the answer. for example: what is he doing? He is crying. I think this activity worked well spite the feelings most of them had today. In general, I didn't like too much this class because I felt it was passive class, but there could be many things that affected the class like the fatigue, sickness, but I will try to be more active next time.

First teaching practice, Technical english

Hi mates, today I had my practice with technical english. I created my lesson plan which was about possessive adjectives and pronouns. I realized that all of them were girls like the last semeter. I didn't know anything about the group, so I felt a little nervous because I always feel nervous the first day of teaching because I don't know how students are going to react. First, I introduced my self and got a little familiar with them. Then, I asked them about the topic they were studying. Some of them were absent minded because they had no idea what to say. Since it is technical english I, I think it is very hard for them because they are from another major.
As a warm up activity, I brought a bag in which I asked them to place some personal objects, everybody collaborated by putting something inside the bag, and at the end, one by one picked up one object and I asked her, "whose pencil is that?" and they had to tell me, "this pencil is hers". I think it was a nice practice since they were going to use almost the same structure, but different noun. Then, I made an oral activity and I asked them to make groups of three. I wrote an example of the activitiy on the board and told them to follow the example. I called the three persons from the group and I said the first girl a sentence like this. I get a cellphone; the student had to tell that sentence to her classmate, and her classmates had to say, "This is my cellphone"and the other student had to say, "this cellphone is mine". If they all said the sentence correctly got a point as a group.  I think they liked the activity, but it was a little confusion , but I noticed they were trying their best to say it correctly. They seemed intersted in the activity. After, that I wrote it on the board and asked them to do the same in a written form. When they finished, I told them to repeat all the answers , that was fun because some of them said something different, but I let them know the correct sentence. Later, I wrote  a dialogue which they had to filled up the blanks with some words according to some prounouns and other words. They worked on that, but some of them seemed to have problems even with very basic things, that they were supposed to know already. I made them repeat the dialogue twice and asked if there were questions. Then, I continued with an oral activity which I think it was not appropriate because I think it was too difficult for some of them because there were only 3 girls answering what I was requiring. Well, this was all what I can say about my experience in my first day at technical english I.
