Hi people! Today I had my last teaching practice!!! Finally!! jajaja I feel kind of worried because my tutor didn´t tell me anything good from my teaching, just bad feedback. I started with a warm up activity which consisted on mimic a joke. I divided the group in two teams; then, they chose a representative and another one to write down what they got. I knew it was kind of difficult to get a joke like that, but I wanted to try and see how was the reaction of the guys. I think it doesn´t matter of the activity to achieve your porpuse, but the way you develop your activity. I tried to be active and make it fun. However, at the of the class, I asked them what they learned today, and to my surprised they liked the activity (at least they said that jajaj). Besides, I made a pop up reading which they liked it a lot. I had some difficulties about the meaning of some words because I didn´t know how to explain it in english, so they could get it. I hope I got good grades in these 3 teaching practice because I don´t know any one :-(
So, see ya next entry !! Chaito
The teacher said that I don´t time my class jajajaj.. that is because I hate timing, I rather take my time to develope any activity and take advantage of any interruption.
ResponderEliminar=0 poor maritza!!! don't worry about your tutor! sometimes tutors say things that even they don't apply in their classes, so what you have to do is to be sure about what you did, and make a brief analysis about yourself, how did you feel, what things can you do better, or which things will you do the same because they fit perfectly. I know that you're a nice teacher, you know we're learning, and thanks God you already finished advanced hehehe!! Congrants! I'm sure you did a good job!! =P
ResponderEliminarThat's one of my problems too. Whe I am teaching I do not think about the time, I just pay attention if what I am teaching is being understood. I really do not like to work at my own pace, I prefer to work at the pace of students.
ResponderEliminarHi maraya! I guess all of us are having problems with timing our classes, but you are right sometimes the most important thing is to enjoy the activities and that students learn. Let me tell you that i had some problems explaining the new vocabulary to the students as well, but what i did was to study previously the words i think students may do not know, and in that way i can prepare some flashcards explaining the meaning of the words. you should try it next time because pictures can be really useful at the time of explaining new vocabulary, just remember that a picture worths a thousand words...
ResponderEliminarMaritza,
ResponderEliminarRemember that you are learning to be a teacher. Slowly you will start putting into practice those pieces of advice the teacher gives you. I know it is not easy to do it, but timing will help you have a better control of your classes.
