My last teaching practice

Hello mates, I had my last day of practice,(thank God!!) jejej.. When I was going to make the warm up activity, I asked the students to make two groups, but I felt so bad because they didn`t move at all. I had to repeat three times to make them get together. I asked them for a leather and they were so boring that made me feel uncomfortable; however, I tried to let it not affect myself. After they were involved in the warm up, they seemed to be more relaxed. In this, class, I had to develop the new topic "simple past tense". The presentation of the topic was presented by a reading about Forrest. I asked them to read it for 5 minutes and underlined new words. They seemed that they didn´t know anything about verbs in simple past tense because theyere asking what wasthe meaning of the vers in past from the reading. After discussing about the reading, I had to continue with the rules and it was so tired because there were a lot of spelling rules that I had to explained, I brought a lot of examples of each rule. I think they understood they mayority of these rules because they were asking and giving examples. It took me a lot of time to explain all the rules, but I think students appreciated the way I explained. At the end of the class, I say God bye in a kind way, and I didn´t expect them to clap my class that day, but they did it. I felt nice because I thought they learned and enjoy some activities with me.

  1. Hi Mary!! I taught the same topic and I understood the feeling that you had when they did not do the activity at the first time, but in my opinion we should understand that students sometimes are not in the mood. We should have a lot of patient. I'm glad to read that they clapped you at the end. Congrats!!

  2. Maritza,

I think we have all experienced that feeling when the students do not feel like working in your class. We have to find the way to get them all involved in our activities. I think that is what you did and that is why they said good bye to you in a cheerfull way.
