Hi people! today I had my thrid class with intermediate I. I arrived very early to prepare everything for the class. I had to begin with a new lesson plan and I started with the warm up activity. I liked the warm up, at first I didn't think it was going to be enterntaining, but students seemed to have fun and enjoyed the acitivity.. The activity consisted on pasting a label with the name of a famous person on students back. They had to be famous couples for they to find out who they were. They were not able to see the name of their famous person because they had to go around and ask their classmates who they were in order to find out their couple. It was very funny and I think they were enthusiastic. After that, I started with a dialogue, but to make it easier for them to have an idea of the dialogue, I drew two girls on the board and named them with the names according to the dialogue. I told them that I was going to read a dialogue between Dana and Adri. Students were paying attention to the dialogue, and then I wrote some questions about the dialogue which they had to answer. I read the dialogue three times for them to have an idea of the conversation. At the end, they could answer the questions correctly. Then, I started the new topic which was Simple past tense. They already had previous knowlege about this, so I wrote some examples about it, and made them say an example on their own. I liked this time the class motivation and interest because they seemed they liked the class because they pay attention. Even though I didn't feel so excited, I think it was a good class. I was like kind of off to the class, but I tried to do my best to follow my tutor's recommendations. I think I had a good feedback from the tutor because he told me details that could make the different in my teaching.
If your class is motivated and like what they are asked to do, you will avoid headaches. Nice job! You've got your students attention. That's very important, and you got it by helping them to feel comfortable with you and your class.

ResponderEliminarI like that warm up. It is really nice, and you can also use cartoons instead of famous people and it's even more funny.
I think students' attention depends on the quality of activities we use...
I like your warm-up activity because I think it is a good way to make students speak in class. I know what it feels being unmotivated in the classes, but next time just try to avoid it because students notice your mood and that may affect your performance. Just try to do your best every time, no matter what your tutor teacher may say about it.
